Daniel W. Block
Principal Consultant

Daniel Block’s agribusiness background is a unique blend of practical management experience and advanced agribusiness research and education. He began his career as a cattle feed salesman in Texas following service in the U.S. Coast Guard and earning his degree in Agricultural Management. He worked his way up through regional sales positions to become National Sales Manager for the Loomix feed company. Later in his career, Mr. Block served as General Manager for Chriseed, responsible for that company’s hybrid vegetable seed sales, research and production worldwide.

In 1983 he joined the faculty of the Agribusiness Department of Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, California. As an associate professor, Mr. Block taught in both the undergraduate and graduate agribusiness programs. While there he conducted applied research and consulted in the areas of agribusiness marketing, management and international trade for numerous agribusiness corporations and grower groups. In 1992 he left academia to form an international agribusiness development company, Seaward International Group. This company conducted training and business development projects for private and government enterprises in North and Central America, Europe and East Asia. Mr. Block sold this firm and continues to serve Cal Poly as a member of the College of Agriculture Agribusiness Advisory Council.

He has authored numerous articles on agribusiness marketing and management and has spoken extensively throughout North America and other parts of the world. Hundreds of agribusiness executives have benefitted from his acclaimed "Meat & Potatoes"® agribusiness management programs as well as his one-on-one executive coaching. While holding two Master Degrees in Agriculture Management and International Relations, Mr. Block stays current in his field by regularly attending advanced courses in all aspects of agricultural business.
